Cor Euser. The great talent. The allrounder, who is hard to literally everything has wheels and an engine. The almost twenty times champion. But the man who had no gift. That all with their own hands and built up stalwart went after setbacks. A tiny list of anecdotes and events around which the rider with a very thick book is easy to write.

The beginning
Motorsport had nothing for Cor. “If I had a seventeen year old three-cylinder 500 cc engine. More exactly, the car had me. “As a result the necessary falls. Money to go racing was not in the family Euser. “My father was a butcher and could not afford the motorsport, racing was not financially feasible for me. So I bought cars up to 250 guilders, which I afzaagde everything I did not need. I mounted a rollbar and my car was ready for autocross competitions. In that period I learned a car under control. ”

In the winter of 1979/1980 followed the race course of the Cor Cenav Racing School. The 22-year-old butcher was the discovery. Marlboro immediately saw the potential and took him into the Marlboro Racing Team Holland. His teammates: Huub Rothengatter and Arie Luyendyk. Cor Crossle bought a Formula Ford 1600. Not new, because that cost 26,000 guilders and that money was not there. After the first race of the 1980 season, everyone knew immediately who was Cor Euser. The ‘butcher from Oss’, as the speakers called him, won his first race. That season he was once the Dutch and Benelux champion.

Hands dirty
Euser was a butcher and had thirty employees. “I took that time to work, eg the slaughter of pigs. Then I stood for four hours at night to cut in half pig. Then I drove like a spear at Zandvoort. ”

Ayrton Senna
In the early ’80s belonged to the al Cor European summit in the Formula Ford 2000, a class that is similar to the current Formula Renault in 2000. “I rode in those days against drivers like Ayrton Senna, Jean Alesi and Mauricio Gugelmin, all men who have achieved the Formula 1. Formula 1 was also my goal. ”
Senna and Euser did not have the same opportunities. “Ayrton drove like a brand new factory driver in Formula Ford in 2000, I was in a car of one years old. I worked in those days as a butcher and had hardly any budget. For the first race of the season I rented a Formula Ford 2000 to 2500 francs, guilders in 2500 and then again I sprokkelde together for the next race. Prior to a race at Hockenheim, I still had the lead in the standings in hands. At Hockenheim was poor. My car had forced stood outside all night and was followed Gend. My mechanics drilled a few holes in the car to the water to run away. ”
“I had a good start, I first came on the first turn off. When I braked, did almost nothing. The front wheels blocked, the rear wheels turned as usual. The result was a rollover and the end of my race. Probably had a little boy sat in my car and turned the knob of the brake balance. ”

Setback
With hard work, hard drive and his talent soon landed Cor already in Formula 3000, the antechamber of the Formula 1. Cor, professional race car driver from 1984, actually had enough sponsorship money. Yet it was different than he had hoped. “I drove for a renowned British team and got a brand new March. In the first practice I was fourth, behind three Ralts. I was the fastest driver-March. A race later, I drove back suddenly. My car just did not. It was again the old song. My money was used to the English riders of the team to help, I’d had it. ”

Adversity (2)
In 1991 Cor debuted in the Indy Cars, the American equivalent of Formula 1. He drove for the team of Tony Bettenhausen and impressed in his first race in tenth on the finish to come. Cor’s manager would then toast the case for the 1992 season. “I heard nothing from Betttenhausen. When I later contacted him looking, I heard that my manager had failed. I had been too trusting. If I got another chance, you only get once in your life. I have not used that opportunity and that is regrettable. ”

Marcos
In the 90s made Cor at TT Circuit Assen for the first time with Marcos. He immediately saw the potential of the car and founded in 1994 Marcos Racing International. Together with Joop including Cook KMS Racing Engines Euser began to further development. In 1995 they had a 440 hp Marcos, in 1997 it was already 580 hp from 5.9 liters a Ford V8. In 1998 the capacity increased to 6.9 liters. ‘La Bomba’, the Spaniards called the Marcos LM600 Cor in 2000 that the Spanish GT Championship. More effective we can not describe.

Technician
Cor Euser is not only very hard driving, he is also a master at tuning cars. Cor rode in the early 90s to Spice in the World Cup Group C (sports prototypes). “The engineers of the works were then still very impressed with the way I could describe the behavior of the car. It is my advantage that I can set up a car quickly. Ik rijd twee rondjes, dan weet ik wat ik aan de afstelling moet veranderen.”
As team owner and engineer as Cor has achieved many successes. In 1990 he won the BMW Dealer Team in the Production Touring Car Championship. From 1993 to 1995 he won three times in a row as a team owner, the Dutch title in the Touring Car class to the Rover 1400 cc Dealer Team. Since 1995 he is making a success as a team owner and driver of success with its proprietary Marcos-racers.

Hard work
Hard work built Cor Marcos Racing International, an internationally respected team. It is not to get blown Cor. He sticks his hands in the sleeves and expects the same from others. “Lazy people need to stay away from me. There are plenty of people who want to get something done without anything to do. So I’m not together. As a child I had been to get up to four hours to conduct the calves. ”

A Leopard can break motor
Finally, a specific anecdote that has nothing to do with motorsports. In 2002 Cor received an invitation to a Leopard-2 tank to “erase”. Such tank weighs 60,000 pounds and is powered by a 1600 hp V12. Cor was a very short briefing and then immediately gave full throttle. Did not we already established that Cor hard to deal with anything on wheels and an engine? Cor quickly got used to the almost four meters wide Leopard. He flew over potholes and steep hills. At one point, started the engine to keep the Leopard and lost speed. Suddenly a huge cloud of smoke from the exhaust and the automatic extinguishing system went off. From all corners and holes were many soldiers running up and hit. Such Leopard engine is indestructible yet? Cor stood with a grin on his face, and looked at it.
